1- Amsterdam Channels
As I mentioned at the beginning of the summer, Amsterdam's magical canals and a canal tour are enough for me to go to Amsterdam. For this reason, Amsterdam is the first place in the list of places to visit in the city has fascinating channels.
The construction of these canals, which make the city known as ve Venice of the North “, started in the Middle Ages for the purpose of the management and defense of the waters released from the dams. The canal system, covering 25% of the city's face, has a length of 100 kilometers, 90 islands and 1,500 bridges.
Herengracht (Noble Channel), Keizergracht (Channel of the Kings) and Prinsengracht (Prince's Channel) were the most famous of the canals. One of the most beautiful and comfortable ways to visit the canals is to take a 1-hour canal tour.
2- Dam Square
Dam Square, located in the historical part of Amsterdam, is the heart of the city. The main reason why the area is described in this way is to host important activities and structures that have become symbol of the city.
The Neo-Classic Amsterdam Royal Palace, which was used as a town hall between 1655-1808, is one of the historical buildings in the square where Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) is held.
The national monument to see the site during your visit to the II. It was erected in 1956 in memory of those who lost their lives in World War II. In addition, Madame Tussauds Amsterdam, the Amsterdam branch of the famous wax sculpture museum, is also in this square.
As I mentioned in my article about staying here in Amsterdam, if you set your hotel around this square, you don't need much public transportation during your travel in Amsterdam and you can experience the magical atmosphere of the city more.

The Van Gogh Museum, opened in 1973, opened its doors to the visitors in the Museum District, which has many important museums around Amsterdam. The four-storey cultural facility, designed by the De Stijl architect Gerrit Rietveld, hosts the world's largest Van Gogh collection.
Organized by his brother Theo, this collection consists of more than 200 paintings and more than 500 drawings in chronological order. You can see the letters Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo and you can also take a look at the works of contemporary artists.
4- Rijksmuseum State Museum
Rijksmuseum, located in Museum Square, is another important museum of the city. The Rijksmuseum, founded in the Hague in 1800 to exhibit the collections of city executives, moved to Amsterdam in 1808 by the order of the Dutch King Louis Bonaparte. The museum, which was built in a location dominated by the Museum District between 1876 and 1885 with the design of Pierre Cuypers, has the largest collection of Dutch art in the world.
In addition to the paintings from the Dutch Golden Age, you can also explore a large collection of Asian Art. The cultural facility also has the largest art history library in the country. If you enjoy visiting museums and art galleries, be sure to add this museum to your list of places to visit in Amsterdam.
Remember, the sign of the city ”I Amsterdam Amsterdam is right in front of this museum. This is a great spot for taking pictures in Amsterdam.
5- Red Light District
Red Light District, which is the most extraordinary place on our list of places to visit in Amsterdam, is a famous place in Europe with its adult entertainment facilities. In the streets of the region, also known as De Wallen, there are many sex shops, an appointment house, a gay bar and a theater where erotic shows are held.
In addition to all these, there are cafes and bars that provide socialization and entertainment, and canal houses that may be of interest to you with its architectural features. Among the hundreds of museums in Amsterdam, the Sex Museum, considered the most extraordinary museum, is one of the top attractions of the region.
I have written all the points in the area clearly but don't be scared. The main entertainment in the region starts after 22:00. If you are interested in the structure of the region before this time you can visit the streets easily. Moreover, 90% of the crowd wandering around the region wandering around the region, not only during the daytime but at night.
While visiting the area, you can see many young-old couples and tourist groups visiting around. You can read more about the area in Red Light District.

You can take a stroll from Dam Square to Museum Square, take a long break in the nearby park and get away from the noise of the city.
7- Anne Frank House
One of the most popular museums on our list of Amsterdam attractions is the Anne Frank House, located in the Jordaan district. Anne Frank, one of the inhabitants of the city, has been working with her family for two years. The house he hid from the Nazis invading the city during World War II was turned into a museum in 1960.
The rooms consist of an apartment hidden by a revolving library, the log room, the Otto Frank Exhibition, the Anne edils Room and the Petercaks Room. The most important element of the museum, which aims to keep the memory of an important person who has left its mark on history, is the diary of Anne Frank, who was published for the first time in 1947 and attracted worldwide attention.
An important note; If you want to visit this house, I recommend you to buy your ticket from the absolute internet. In peak seasons, only those who have online tickets at certain times of the day are allowed to enter the museum. By taking your ticket online, you will get rid of long queues and have a more fixed Amsterdam trip.
8- Begijnhof
Let me come to one of my personal favorites on my Amsterdam tour list. The Begijnhof is home to the Catholic Brotherhood, a nun's life without a monastery, but one of the most architecturally beautiful places in the city.
Het Houten Huis, believed to be Amsterdam's oldest house, dates back to the first quarter of the 14th century.
It is important to be as quiet as possible while browsing the Begiijhof and show respect to the local people. I think it is enough to go around this courtyard, which is architecturally remarkable, for half an hour.
9- Bloemenmarkt (Amsterdam Flower Market)
Amsterdam Flower Market, which has been established since 1862 and is the subject of songs, is waiting for its visitors on the Singel Canal between Muntplein and Koningsplein.
Bloemenmarkt, the only floating flower market in the world, was made up of the boats of the farmers who used to produce the flowers they had produced on their own land through the Amstel River. Today, sales stands are fixed to their location.
The colorful market, which is established between 09.00 and 17.00 every day, is one of the most beautiful and inexpensive places to buy souvenirs, as I mentioned in my writings like Amsterdam shopping guide. In the market only tulip, flower bulbs, seeds, not all kinds of regional souvenir products are sold.
10- Oude Kerk
Within the boundaries of the Red Light District, Oude Kerk is often the city's oldest building and the newest art institute, so travelers often find themselves on the list of places to visit in Amsterdam.
The most important parts of the church, which is the eternal resting place of more than 20 thousand people, including the navy hero Jacob van Heemskerck and Rembrandt's first wife Saskia van Uylenburg, constitute the Great Org, Brokarlı Columns, Red Gate of the Old Sakrits, Tower Cone and Compassion Chairs. If you don't want to get into this famous church of the city, you can see the structure from outside while visiting the Red Light District.
